Welcome to Hum!

Hey Humanist!

My name is Klara Frändfors, and I am the section chairperson at Humanisten for Göta studentkår. That means that I work full-time to ensure that you get a student life to fondly remember, and an education to be proud of!

Together with my amazing section board, we monitor your education, your working enviroment, and support the study/social activities at Humanisten. Do you think your exam has been unfairly graded? That it's too cold in the classroom, or perhaps that there should be an association for the subject you study? Then you should contact us!

Humseks board

The board is democratic body consisting of students who study at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Gothenburg. We are members of Göta studentkår, and have been elected to lead the student unions operation, as well as representing the students there. Our responsibility is to represent you who study at Humanisten toward the faculty and it's departments, but also to develop the stuednt union at Humanisten through finding student representatives, supporting our associations, and organizing our labour fair FramtidsHum!

Education monitoring

Students have the right to be represented when decisions are made or preparations are carried out that affect education or the students' situation. Education monitoring officers contribute to the faculty-wide development of education.

Amanda and Olle are resposible for education monitoring on the section board. This means that they participate as student representatives in faculty-wide bodies dealing with educational issues, but they also support student representatives at the faculty departments. They help the students who sit as student representatives in departmental and program councils to know how they can act as good representatives for the students.

Want to get in touch with Amanda and Olle? Email utbildning.humsek@gota.gu.se, or chat with them around campus!

Work environment

Work environment is everything that affects how you feel and function in relation to your studies; physically, digitally, and mentally! A good work environment means that you feel well and that you have good conditions to manage and complete your studies.

Venus is responsible for the work environment (SHAMO) on the section board, which means she represents the students in our work environment at the faculty-wide level, covering everything from non-ergonomic chairs and bad air in classrooms to stressful schedules and the structure on Canvas. She also coordinates and supports our SAMOs, which are the student work environment representatives at our departments.

Want to get in touch with Venus? Email shamo.humsek@gota.gu.se, or talk to her if you see her on campus!

Study/social

Study social activities are what happens alongside your studies, but still connected to them. It could be study lounges, parties, or other fun activities!

Elvira is responsible for study social activities on the section board. That means she supports students' study social initiatives within the section, for example by helping associations connected to Göta Student Union book spaces to hold events. Elvira also organizes events on behalf of Göta Humsek and recruits and supports kick off coordinators to make sure new students get a warm welcome.

Want to get in touch with Elvira? Email studiesocialt.humsek@gota.gu.se, or chat with her if you see her on campus!

Labour market

The labor market officer works to facilitate students' transition from studies to working life.

Carl and Irmeli are labor market responsible on the section board. This means that they attend labor market-related events, such as Business Region Gothenburg's meetings, and they also plan our career fair FramtidsHUM. In other words, they match your skills with relevant employers to help you navigate the job market and get a foot in the door to working life!

Want to contact Carl and Irmeli? Email arbetsmarknad.humsek@gota.gu.se, or chat with them around campus!

Student politics

The section board is tasked with paying attention to student political issues within the section.

Sumaya is responsible for student politics on the section board. She works with advocacy and keeping an eye on the world around us, making sure students are updated on issues that directly affect our studies or study situation. Sumaya is basically our eyes and ears when it comes to whether politicians are discussing student housing, funding for education, or students' opinions on term times.

Want to get in touch with Sumaya? Email studentpolitiskt.humsek@gota.gu.se, or talk to her if you see her on campus!

Communication

The section board has lots of things going on, and you need to hear about them too!

Noah is the section board's communicator. That means he's the one managing our Instagram account, uploading events on Orbi, and together with the section chair, updating the website. He coordinates our posts, cuts and pastes so it’s presentable, and responds to DMs.

Want to contact Noah? Email kommunikation.humsek@gota.gu.se, or talk to him if you see him on campus!
