New membership terms from July 1, 2025
As of July 1, new membership terms and conditions apply to Göta Student Union. We have also introduced a new membership that extends over four semesters and changed the names of the membership categories to reduce confusion. Here you will get an overview of our memberships and what they entail.

Why become a member?
As a member of Göta Student Union, you strengthen the student voice and contribute to a better student life, both for you and future students. Your membership makes it possible for us to work for more study places, fair exams, increased teaching time and more social activities.
Here you will find an overview of our different membership types!
We have gathered everything you need to know to make it easy for you to choose the membership that suits you best. Whether you are a new student or just want to continue supporting the union, there is something for you. If you have any questions, we recommend that you first read through our membership terms above, where you will find answers to most questions.
Ordinary Membership (1, 2 or 4 semesters)
For those of you who study at any of the faculties Göta represents at University of Gothenburg.
You will receive, among other things:
- Voting rights in the student union elections
- Opportunity to run for office
- Free breakfast every month
- Discounted events
- Access to our student pub Kårkällar’n
- Digital membership card via Mecenat
Buddy Membership (2 semesters)
For those of you who are not students but want to support the union – for example, an alumnus or partner of a member.
You get:
- Access to the Kårkällar’n as +1 (you must go with someone who is a ordinary member)
- Opportunity to attend selected events, see membership terms.
Please note that you will not receive voting rights, student discounts or Mecenat card.
Temporary membership (3 days)
For guests from other universities.
Provides access to:
- Events during the validity period
- Kårkällar’n (the student pub) during the validity period
Requires approval from the union's signatory.
