Are you studying linguistics and want to join in discussing the education in the subject area? Then you should become a student representative!
The Education Committee (sometimes also called the Education Council) for linguistics discusses both existing courses in linguistics and their plans and content, as well as the direction forward and the development of new courses in linguistics. They work roughly like a program council, but for individual courses within the subject area. They can, for example, work with planning, follow-up, and development of the subject area's courses. As a student representative, you bring up your and your fellow students' experiences of the teaching, as well as suggestions on how it can be improved.
The Education Committee works based on nationally established guiding documents as well as the goals and strategies for education decided by the University of Gothenburg. Usually, one 2-hour meeting is held each semester, and you will recieve a renumeration for your participation.
To support you in your role, you have Göta studentkår’s Document of Opinions, the University of Gothenburg’s governing documents, and the chairperson of the Humanities section as well as other student representatives. Get in touch at humsek@gota.gu.se if you have any questions about the role, or if you’re interested in being a student representative on the Education Committee for Linguistics at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics, and Theory of Science!
